If there's one thing I've learnt over the last few years it is that New Zealand is really good at this whole "democracy" thing. For all the turbulence New Zealand's history has had, the one recurring pattern is that we've let the voices of the citizens determine how this nation is run.
That, frankly, is a beautiful thing.
I know it can be a bit of a cliche to say there are many in the world who do not have a chance to voice there opinion, but the truth in that comment never fades. You may think politics is boring, doesn't relate to you, or you simply don't understand it. But the fact is that this democratic process, all those politicians with their political chat, aren't just going to go away.
This politics stuff is going to happen whether you're involved or not.
We live in a world where we are spoiled for choice. There are so many different policies, political resources, and tools to help you determine your political identity, that are freely available to us. Now is a better time than any to get switched on about politics.
I mean since this stuff is going to happen anyway, and we're extremely fortunate to voice our opinion like this. We may as well all get involved right?
